Staring out of your flat window, you gaze at the Tokyo Tower, a fitting—yet unfulfilling—replica of the Eiffel Tower. It looks the same. But you know in your heart it’s different. Umbrellas pass through the streets below like black miniature orbs, dodging artifacts of traffic in the Shiba-koen district of Minato, Tokyo. The scene is showered with silvery rain. It clears the gray smog that blanketed the area only moments ago. But the wash does little to cleanse your mind of memories of home.

Ever stop to think…that every endeavor you undertake simply brings you to the present moment? “Stop and smell the roses” isn’t just a saying. It reminds us that the very thing we strive to achieve, may be the very thing we currently have.

“You were named among the stars
No need to change it now
There’s no end to who you are
Look deep inside your heart, you’ll find the promise land.”

In this instrumental version, the song Malachi invokes a sense of promise, hope, or overcoming a difficult situation.
An opening tribal rhythm of pounding tom toms is a call to battle. Energy is driven forward with a reversed Pipa melody and a 70s Funk Guitar riff. Enter a duo of serene acoustic guitars complemented with two different basses. Orchestral strings bring tension and calm in the second movement, until a mildly dark third movement (representing hardship or struggle) resolves with hopeful piano.
